Some of the Indian support staff will leave for England early even as India take on South Africa in the five-game T20I series, website Cricbuzz has reported. With the exception of Rahul Dravid, some of the backroom staff will be heading to the country on June 14. At that time, three games of the five-game series will be completed.

Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid will remain with the team until the end of the series and will take flight on June 19. He will be joined by Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer who have been selected for the Test and T20I teams.

Meanwhile, physio Kamlesh Jain has officially joined the support staff as he oversaw the Indian team’s training session at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Jain was with Kolkata Knight Riders and was part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise for almost 10 years, including three years as the head physio. He was recently recruited by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in place of Nitin Patel, who joined the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

In his mid thirties, Jain joined the New Delhi team and also supervised the Indian t20 team which trained for three long hours. The 18-member squad are preparing to take on South Africa in a five-match T20I series starting June 9 in the capital. The series ends on June 19 in Bangalore after matches in Cuttack (June 12), Vizag (June 14) and Rajkot (June 17).

Umran Malik had an extended spell in India’s first training session, but it was his colleague Arshdeep Singh who looked much more impressive at net, which included honing his skills as a yorker. However, both juniors might have to wait their turn with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan ahead in the pack.

IND vs SA: Arshdeep Singh could make his India debut in the 1st T20I ahead of Umran Malik – Here’s why?

If the push is felt, Arshdeep seems a better bet than Umran.
The Indian team’s evening session under Rahul Dravid and Paras Mhambrey was as intense as it gets. While Umran, the nation’s toast for his fast pace, played as fast as he could, Rishabh Pant left no opportunity to crush him with equal ferocity.
