The OSB Group has implemented Mental Health First Aiders throughout its business to help staff with any concerns regarding their well-being.

Richard Barrett, People Development Manager at OSB Group, provided 11 employee volunteers with approved mental health first aid training. They have been trained on how to listen to employees and refer them to professional and charitable help when needed.

The course also discussed the importance of the support networks provided by family and friends during a person’s recovery from mental health.

The additional courses, which are to take place in May and September, are already full. It is hoped that the group will recruit more than 30 mental health first aiders across the company by the end of the year.

Andy Golding, CEO of OSB Group, said: “Mental health is a critical issue and one that I am personally passionate about. If we can make a difference to even one or two people through this program, then that’s a big win if it means we’ve helped direct them to the right professional support.

OSB is also an active supporter of Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs May 9-15 and has a theme this year of loneliness.

Barrett added: “Not only are our Mental Health First Aiders helping their colleagues within the business, but our colleagues at the Kent Reliance branch have also used the training to help our customers and this is a great opportunity to highlight highlighted the help available during Mental Health Awareness Week.
