On January 10, members of the Old Saybrook Support Staff Union Local 1303-278 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) met with the president of Rays for Rams and Old Saybrook coach Scott Giegerich to donate $1,000 towards lighting the high school’s grass pitch. Support Staff Union President Jonathan Paradis thought it was a great project for our local to support and contribute as well. Each year the union seeks to find a local charity or project to support. In the past, the union has made donations to the HEAT project, which helps families in need heat their homes.
Paradis said, “This is a great way for union members to continue supporting our community, student-athletes and families. “
