CHENNAI: The selection of foreign shooting coaches and domestic coaches is ongoing at the moment. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), after having launched a call for applications for the same last month, is looking to select the best candidates ahead of the Paris Olympics in 2024. Now they are also looking to recruit support staff for help coaches at junior and senior level at least until the next Olympic Games.
The federation is seeking to enlist the services of three physiotherapists, three psychologists and three physical trainers. In the last Olympic cycle, the NRAI had a contract with Manav Rachna for sports science support. “We used the services of Manav Rachna. They have a full-time sports science center. Apart from that, Olympic Gold Quest was also sending their physios. Now we would like to have regular professionals on our panel,” an NRAI official told the daily.
Support staff members will work in consultation with national coaches and will be stationed at Dr Karni Singh’s shooting range, according to the NRAI. Regarding the appointment of coaches (national and foreign), the federation had recently sent a final invitation. month (the deadline for the same was January 30). According to the federation, the response was good. We also learn that all the coaches who were there before the Tokyo Olympics have sent their applications. This of course does not guarantee their return. Federation officials will start trimming the list of applications in due course and are expected to start the interview process soon. It should be noted that all coaching contracts (Indian and foreign) were terminated after a disastrous performance in the Tokyo Olympics.
