According to Annual survey of NHS employers for 202044% of worker absences were caused by work-related stress.

The most common reasons for absence from the NHS are stress, anxiety and other mental illnesses, which account for nearly 511,000 full days lost (NHS Digital Statistics, 2020).

So how do health officials tackle staff wellbeing to ensure wards are not understaffed and patients receive the best quality care possible?

In February, we hosted our second virtual event of 2022, #NHE365 NHS Workforce. Which saw many healthcare professionals from across the healthcare industry come together for a day of collaboration and sharing best practices.

Our fourth roundtable of the day focused on the mental wellbeing of the workforce and how best NHS staff can be supported by healthcare leaders and organisations.

During this panel, we were joined by Melanie Maughan, Head of Wellbeing, NHS Business Service Authority; Siven Rungien, Head of Mental Health Legislation, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and ThomasRobert, Clinical Exercise Therapist, South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust.
