Member of Rahul Dravid’s support staff to fly with India’s England test team on June 16 – Report

The Indian team is set to face South Africa in the next five-match T20I series, starting Thursday, June 9.

India selectors have named an 18-member squad, including the best from IPL 2022, for the five T20 internationals against Proteas.

Senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested for South Africa’s T20Is. Opening hitter KL Rahul will lead the 18-man squad in what would be their first captain in the shortest format for India.

However, the senior players, who will miss the South African T20I series, have been named in the squad for the rescheduled fifth Test against England in Birmingham.

According to a report from Cricbuzz, part of Rahul Dravid’s coaching staff will depart for England on June 16 with the test squad just after the third T20I. Dravid will remain with the T20I team until the end of the five-game series.

The Indian head coach will leave on June 19 after the last game of T20I. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer who are also part of the test team will join Dravid for the flight from Bengaluru.

Kamlesh Jain joins Indian team support staff for T20I series

Meanwhile, physio Kamlesh Jain officially joined India’s support staff on Monday, June 6. Jain replaced Nitin Patel, who moved to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

The India-South Africa T20I series will be played from June 9-19 with New Delhi, Cuttack (June 12), Vizag (June 14), Rajkot (June 17) and Bengaluru being the five venues that will host the matches.

India currently lead the five-game Test series against England 2-1 and will play the deciding role at the Edgbaston in Birmingham, from July 1.

The Indian team started their training session on Monday for the T20I series under Dravid and KL Rahul.
