BCCI invites applications for head coach and support staff of Indian team

Amid reports that Rahul Dravid is set to take over as coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, the Cricket Control Council of India (BCCI) on Sunday invited nominations for the post of ‘Head Coach, Batting Coach, Bowling Coach, Field Coach with Team India and Head Sports Science / Medicine with the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The Indian Cricket Council, in a press release, said applications for the head coach position should be submitted by 5 p.m. (IST) on October 26. Applications for all other roles must be submitted by November 3, the BCCI added.

In the press release, BCCI said it had called for applications for the positions mentioned below:

1. Head Coach (Team India – Senior Men)

2. Batting Coach (Team India – Senior Men)

3. Bowling Coach (India Team – Senior Men)

4. Field Coach (India Team – Senior Men)

5. Head of Sports Science / Medicine with the National Cricket Academy (NCA)

Earlier this week, reports claimed that former Indian captain Rahul Dravid had agreed to become India’s next coach after Ravi Shastri’s tenure ended following the upcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE and Oman.

Dravid has been in charge of setting up India A and U-19 for the past six years and currently heads the NCA in Bengaluru.

Indian captain Virat Kohli was asked on Saturday whether Rahul Dravid would be the team’s next coach.

In response to the question, Kohli said, “No idea what exactly is going on on that front. No detailed discussions with anyone at this time.”


India kicks off their T20 World Cup campaign against their big rival Pakistan on October 24.

The two teams are placed together in Group 2 of the Super 12 stage, with Afghanistan and New Zealand also in the same group, where two other teams will join in the first round.
